Chinese Tourists To USA


In summer of 2004, an official US tourism office was established in China. During its opening news conference attended by the US Embassy's visa consuls and the US government officials, a clear welcome message was sent to the ordinary Chinese citizens who intend to visit the USA as a tourist. On December 6th, 2004, a Sino-US Tourism Memo was signed in order to promote tourism into both countries. As of January 15th, 2005, Chinese citizens for the first time started to obtain multiple entry visas into the USA. Today, Chinese tourists are considered VIPs in western countries, and ordinary Chinese citizens vacationing in the USA is no longer a dream.

2. Beijing(D)
Arrive in Beijing in late afternoon and warmly welcomed by your English-speaking local guide. Transfer to the hotel.

3. Beijing (B,L,D)
Beijing is the Capital of China, once served as the Capital City for 5 dynasties over a period of 800 years. We start today’s tour from the Tiananmen Square – the largest square in the world. The present Tiananmen Square has an area of 440,000 square meters and has become a relaxing place for the common people to fly kites and walk. Behind the Tiananmen Gate Tower is the Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City. The City was built between 1406 and 1420 and served as the Imperial Palace for 24 Emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. This complex, being the world largest Imperial Palace, features more than 800 buildings with resplendent golden-glazed roofs, red lacquered pillars and vermilion walls. In the afternoon we will tour the Temple of Heaven where the Ming and Qing Emperors worshipped the God of Heaven and preyed for a good harvest. You can visit the most brilliant buildings there, the Circular Mound Altar (Yuanqiutan), Imperial Vault of Heaven (Huangqiongyu) and Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest (Qiniandian) from south to north. What’s more, you can have a chance to experience the magnificent atmosphere of the Echo Wall around the Imperial Vault of Heaven.
We will enjoy the famous Beijing Duck banquet for dinner, with Chinese traditional folk dancing entertainment.

4 Beijing - Datong (B,L,D)
We will visit the Summer Palace, which was built in 1750 as a royal recreational resort. About 75% of the Garden was covered with water---the Kunming Lake. Among its famous features are the 700-meter-long corridors with its wonderful Painted Gallery, the Marble Barge, and several magnificently painted pavilions and pagodas. It is said that the huge amount of money used for building the Summer Palace was supposed to build a Chinese Navy, however, the huge Marble Barge by the vast Lake was the only thing relating to the Navy. Our afternoon will be spent at the Temple of Recumbent Buddha. You can see a bronze recumbent Buddha inside the Temple, which is how it received the name Temple of Recumbent Buddha. After dinner, we will take night train to Datong.

5 Datong (B,L,D)
Datong is a city with a history of more than 2000 years and is famous for its ancient grottoes. We will visit the Yungang Grottoes, which has a total of 53 Grottoes containing more than 51000 stone statues. The grottoes were built along one side of the Wuzhou Mountain, which stretches about one mile from the east to the west. It is equally famous as the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang and Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang. We will also visit the Wooden Pagoda of Ying Xian, which is the largest and the oldest wooden pagoda in the world.

6 Datong – Inner Mongolia (B,L,D)
In the morning we will go to see one of the greatest wonders in the architecture history, the Hanging Monastery. The temple was built in 386 AD on the cliffs of Mt. Hengshan. After lunch we will take the coach to Hohhot in Inner – Mongolia.

7 Inner Mongolia (B,L,D)
After breakfast we will take a comfortable coach to the Hiramun Steppe (grassland). There you will stay at the local herdsman’s Mongolian Yurt (Tent) and experience the Mongolian’s daily life. You will also have a chance to enjoy the Mongolian traditional horse racing and wrestling game.

8 Inner Mongolia - Beijing (B,L,D)
Today you will have the exciting horseback riding for the whole morning and enjoy the beautiful sight of the grassland. Then in the afternoon you will coach back to Hohhot and have a tour around this city, including Zhaojun Tomb, Five-Pagoda Temple, Dazhao Temple and old Town. After dinner, board a night train to Beijing.

9 Beijing / Shanghai (B,L,D)
Arrival in Beijing in the early morning and transfer to the International Airport for a flight to Shanghai, the largest commercial center in China, and the largest city in Asia. Shanghai is nestled in the fertile Yangtze River Valley, a home to 14 million people. We will visit the Jade Buddha Temple, which is famous for its huge Jade Buddha, each of them was carved out of a single piece of Jade. We will visit Yuyuan Garden, a finely designed maze of elegant pavilions and ponds in the old part of this city. Also walk along the famous commercial street – Nanjing Road near the Bund.

10 Shanghai - Hangzhou (B,L,D)
In the morning we take a coach to Hangzhou, the Capital of Zhejiang Province, and also one of the most beautiful cities in China. It was praised in an ancient Chinese poem as a “Paradise on Earth”. Today, we will start our tour with the majestic Lin Yin Temple, which is known as the Temple of Inspired Seclusion. Afterwards we will go to see the mysterious Fei Lai Feng (Peak Flown From Afar).

11 Hangzhou (B,L,D)
Continue our tour in Hangzhou. Today we will take a visit to the beautiful West Lake. There are many Chinese ancient love stories concern the Lake. Boating on the lake, enjoy the wonderful sights of the lake shores as well as a small glass of the Dragon Well Tea from on the Tea Farm. In the afternoon, we will tour around the countryside of Hangzhou.

12. Hangzhou-Suzhou (B,L,D)
After breakfast we are leaving for Suzhou. Resting in the arm of the ancient Grand Canal, Suzhou is well known for its old delicate gardens. Narrow canals threaded between white walled houses have earned Suzhou the name “Venice of the East”. We will visit the Tiger Hills, the famous Lingering Gardens and the Han Shan Temple.

13 Suzhou-Shanghai / USA (B,L)
We will continue our exciting tours in Suzhou in the morning. After an early lunch we are driving to Shanghai Pudong Airport for our flight back to USA.
